Studio Overview

Studio ABay Records has been in business since 1972, providing high quality audio recording services for a long list of clients. We’ve recorded literally hundreds of album-length projects, plus numerous singles, demos, film scores, and more. Starting originally as a record label, we are involved in all phases of CD production from pre-production through finished product, including complete CD packages.

The facility consists of two rooms: Studio A is the primary music recording facility with over 1,200 feet of studio and a large, fully automated console. Studio B is a transfer, mastering, and editing suite comprised of a Pro Tools system and several different analog machines for transfer of older masters.

Studio A

Large Acoustically Correct Room
24+ Tracks and Moving Fader Automation
Great Sonics Throughout Entire Recording Chain

Facilities:
The main studio is over 1200 square feet, fully and silently air-conditioned. It was designed by Randy Sparks of RLS Acoustics to be somewhat diffuse so that musicians can hear themselves well and the natural sounds of the instruments and voices are correct. Areas of the studio can be baffled off for isolation, and there is a large isolation room adjacent to both the main room and the control room.

Board:
Otari Series 54, forty inputs (eighty on mixdown) with Diskmix 3 Moving Fader Automation

Pro Tools HD2 Accel system with 24 channels of Apogee A/D and D/A converters
Otari MX-80, 24-Track with Dolby SR

Microphones:
A large selection featuring over 15 Neumann condenser mics, AKG and Sennheiser mics, RCA and Coles ribbon mics, and a large selection of dynamic microphones

Piano:
Yamaha C7-D 7' Concert Grand Piano

Studio B

Studio B is a transfer, mastering, and editing suite. It contains a Pro Tools 002 system with several CD burners and extensive plugins for mastering and restoring. There is also a collection of analog tape machines for transferring older analog types to digital.
